Offences relating only to gay men revoked

2003 – Sexual Offences Act 2003 passes

The Sexual Offences Act ended all offences which only applied to gay men, including gross indecency, which had long been used to criminalise people cruising and cottaging. However due to a House of Lords amendment, not supported by the Government, a new specific offence of sex in a public toilet was added.
