Age of consent lowered
1994 – Age lowered to 18, two years above heterosexuals
Following years of campaigning, the age of consent for gay men is lowered to 18, however this is still two years above the age of consent for heterosexual sex, which is 16. Disappointed crowds responded to the decision angrily outside the Houses of Parliament.
